If you are interested in finding out more about St Bernadette’s School we invite you to phone the office and make a time to visit and meet with the principal.
If you then wish to seek enrolment for your child you are asked to make an appointment with the parish priest to receive a consent form. This will indicate if your child will qualify for preference of enrolment.
It is possible to receive a consent form without preference. The school is allowed a certain percentage of non-preference students to be enrolled.
The criteria for obtaining preference of enrolment are as follows.
The child has been baptised or is being prepared for baptism in the Catholic Church.
The child's parents/guardians have already allowed one or more of its siblings to be baptised in the Catholic faith.
At least one parent/guardian is a Catholic, and although their child has not yet been baptised, the child's participation in the life of the school could lead to the parents having the child baptised.
One, or both of a child’s non-Catholic parents/guardians is preparing to become a Catholic.
With the agreement of the child's parent/guardian, a grandparent or other significant adult in the child's life, such as an aunt, uncle or godparent, undertakes to support the child's formation in the faith and practices of the Catholic Church.
Attendance Dues are payable to the Catholic Education Office via the parish in which you live. These dues help to provide and maintain the school buildings of the Dunedin Diocese.
