Enrolment Procedure

If you are interested in enrolling your child at St Bernadette's School please make an appointment with the parish priest to receive a preference form. This will indicate if your child will qualify for preference of enrolment or open (non-preference) enrolment.

We also invite you to phone the office and make a time to visit and meet with the principal.

State integrated schools select preference students on the following grounds:

  • The child has been baptised or is being prepared for baptism in the Catholic Church or
  • The child’s parents/guardians have already allowed one or more of its siblings to be baptised in the Catholic faith. or
  • At least one parent/guardian is a Catholic, and although their child has not yet  been baptised, the child’s participation in the life of the school could lead to the  parents having the child baptised. or
  • With the agreement of the child’s parents/guardians, a grandparent or other  significant adult in the child’s life, such as an aunt, uncle or godparent,  undertakes to support the  child’s formation in the faith and practices of the Catholic Church. or
  • One or both of a child’s non-Catholic parents/guardians is preparing to become a Catholic.

State integrated schools have places for non-preference students.

  • St Bernadette’s has a maximum of ten open enrolment places.
  • There are currently no available places in 2020.
  • The school roll is now at 85% of its maximum and no non-preference places are likely until               2022.

Non-Preference places criteria.

  • The applicants accept that they will be attending a school of Special Character and  that their place in the school is conditional on their participation in the programme.
