Welcome
On Monday we welcomed Atara and Georgia to Room 8. Atara is the little sister of Atrisha (Room 3), and Georgia is the little sister of Amelia (Room 1). They have been hard working members of Wednesday School over the past few months and are now enjoying being at 'big school'.
Lent
Mr Shaw
This year Easter falls in the school holidays. The children have been studying Lent over the past few weeks and learning about the international Catholic charity agency called Caritas. They have been following the work of Caritas, in particular their work in the Pacific islands. At today's prayer assembly Room 7 did a great job of telling us all about the impact Caritas has in the Pacific. Next Thursday we would like to have a coin trail and give a donation to Caritas to help them in their work. Children are invited to bring a coin or two. We will all be revisiting the Easter story in classes next week, starting with Jesus entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and concluding with Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. On Friday afternoon we will have a whole school liturgy about the main events of Holy Week. Weather permitting, the liturgy will be outside and move to different areas of the school to focus on particular events in this very special story. Whānau are welcome to join us at 2pm for this liturgy of readings, prayer and song. Children will be able to leave with their parents after the liturgy.
Moana Nui
Congratulations to all our tamariki who performed at Moana Nui on Saturday. We acknowledge you for the many hours you committed to practices, which was definitely reflected in the outstanding performances. The joy, enthusiasm and pride that you expressed on the stage was evident to all who were privileged enough to attend. It was a wonderful celebration, showcasing the cultures of the Pacific!
New Baby
Congratulations to Anu, Gibin and Aden on the birth of a beautiful son and brother. As you can see by the photo Aden is already an amazing big brother.
Dog Education
This week some senior classes were treated to a visit from the DCC Animal services team. They offer free dog safety sessions in schools to improve public safety and encourage responsible dog ownership. Our tamariki certainly enjoyed having them and learnt lots about being safe around dogs.
Swimming
Well done to all our junior tamariki who made such amazing progress during their week of swimming lessons. A big thank you to the Just Swim coaches and all our whānau for your support of our swimming programme.
